A Stormy Blue Wedding: Deven + Tommy
Deven and Tommy tied the knot days after Hurricane Dorian served a direct hit to our Lowcountry home, leaving a path of downed tree limbs and debris behind her. All of us held our breath as we learned that the expansive live oak trees that drew the couple to the grounds of the historic Legare Waring House were left standing unscathed and as glorious as ever!
The wedding design was largely inspired (ironically) from a stormy blue painting from which we pulled various shades to create an inviting palette that did not compete with the natural beauty, which was the real show stopper. From the jade velvet table linens and the dusty blue drapery to the wispy strands of greenery and stately pews under the natural cathedral, this wedding was etherial and effortless.
As if the threat of a Category 5 hurricane wasn’t enough going into the wedding week, the aftermath left us with a wedding day of unforeseen pop up showers. Our team had rain plans A, B, C, and D…we enacted parts of plan A and parts of plans B and C. It was a wild day…involving calls to the local weather man for access to his high tech weather grids (yes, we do that) as well as calling in 200 chairs an hour before the ceremony as mother nature tossed us another curve ball. At the end of the day, the skies cleared allowing Deven and Tommy the wedding ceremony under the grand live oak they had always dreamed of.
Rain or shine, this crowd knew how to have a great time and we were so grateful to have been a part of this celebration!
